Beckett at Two Months

Beckett at Two Months

Beckett is two months old now! He still has those bluish eyes! Always watching everything around him. He has also started smiling and cooing, but we have yet to capture this on camera. We still are not sure who he looks like–maybe Uncle Chance? He is definitely more Borger than Jones.

Carter is getting smarter everyday. Tonight, after both boys were in bed, we heard music and didn’t know where it was coming from. We realized it wasn’t coming from our neighbors house, but from Carter’s room. When I went into his room, he was just laying in his bed listening to music from the CD player on the table next to his crib.  Somehow, he had reached through his crib and turned it on.

Carter also opened a closed door for the first time today. His mother said the look of shock on his face mirrored her own when the door swung open.

We had a fun–if not whirlwind-fast–trip on labor day to the ranch and Nana and Granddad’s house. We will post more pictures soon!

Baby #2 Update

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

It has been a long week of waiting. Last Friday, in an effort to hasten the arrival of the baby we indulged in a sizable Mexican food dinner. Soon afterward, Lacey started having contractions. She thought she might go into labor soon, so we dropped off Carter at a friend’s house to stay the night. We went to bed, but our plan was to go to the hospital if her contractions became more frequent. Around 1:30 a.m., they got more painful and she decided we needed to go. I was not going to argue with her.

We were both super-excited at the thought of meeting our second son that day. But after four hours in the hospital, things were not progressing quickly. The doctor said that he could either induce Lacey or we could go home and come back when the contractions got worse. We decided to go home, thinking we would be back that day. The doctor said we would likely have the baby in the next 24-48 hours with a small chance that it could be up to a week.

Well it has been a week and the baby is not showing any signs of wanting to come out! Lacey is scheduled to be induced on Monday, so he will be coming soon one way or another. We will keep you posted.

July 4th

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

July 4th was fun yet different this year. We stayed in town since Lacey is less than three weeks away from her due date. We also stayed indoors most of the day because it is so hot here! However, Carter did get to learn what fireworks are. We bought some innocuous fireworks–smoke bombs, sparklers, and spinning light up things–from the stand down the road. Carter liked the smoke bombs the best. Later we went and watched the city fireworks show. Carter lasted about thirty seconds once the fireworks started. Then he got a little scared and shook his head and said “No more fi-works!”

Easter Egg Hunt

Monday, May 4th, 2009

We all had a blast this Easter! Carter got to go on 5 different Easter egg hunts. We even had one in Lawton at Gramma Kelsey’s birthday on Easter weekend. The video below is the TCU Easter egg hunt that Nana and Granddad took him to.

Baby #2

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Sorry we have not been keeping this blog up to date…but we do have some big news: Baby #2 is on its way! And it is a boy! He will be cooking until July. Lacey is excited to be past her first trimester, and she can feel the baby kick all the time now. He seems to be even more active in the womb than Carter. Mitch is proud that he will have another boy to wrestle with. Carter has no clue what is coming.

We do have a name picked out, but it is top secret. We decided to choose a name before the birth this time.

Lacey will be posting more pictures from her fancy new camera soon, so be on the lookout at the Gallery!

Our New Reality

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

In the past few weeks, I have felt I have had to become more of a real parent. Carter no longer requires just the basic physical necessities food, diaper changes, clean clothes, love, etc. He has started to show a little defiance and battle for independence. He is turning into his own little person. As fun as it is to watch him grow up, it is hard coming to the reality that we are in charge of shaping his behavior.

The most recent incident occured this past week. He had gotten a hold of a CD ROM Mitch had used to download some software. Before I knew it, he had removed it from it’s paper case and was carrying it off into another room. I kindly took it from him and told him that it was Daddy’s and we needed to put it up. This sent him into a screaming, stomping fit. I tried to distract him with his toys, but when that failed I decided to just ignore him. I then quietly observed as he went over to the paper CD case and ripped it to pieces in a rage. After that he seemed fine and went on about his business. I, however, continued to sit there stunned at the task I had before me to raise this little boy to know right from wrong.
